Casey had his 15 month checkup today (yes, I know he's almost 16 months old). He smiled and blew kisses to Dr. Sue & the office staff, and he talked up a storm for Dr. Sue. Everything looks good, he got some shots and maintained his composure throughout.

When we got home, I fed him some ice cream (he got shots today, people) and then we played. He decided to check out this book on Dali when the thunderstorms drove us indoors.

New(er) words: chicken, buggies, sheep& baabaa.

Casey likes to read books. One of his current faves is Moo, Baa, LaLaLa! by Sandra Boynton

New(er) words: chicken, buggies, sheep& baabaa, hey hey, please.

Casey likes to read books. One of his current faves is Moo, Baa, LaLaLa! by Sandra Boynton

Here's a little excerpt:
"A cow says MOO."
"A sheep says BAA."
"Three singing pigs say LA LA LA!" (Casey makes all these noises)

"'No, no!' you say, 'that isn't right. (Casey waggles his finger and says nono)
The pigs say OINK all day and night.'"

I think his participation in the book reading is fabaliss.

Other faves include: Good Night, Gorilla, Barnyard Dance, Hey! Wake Up! (he says hey hey now, per the above) and Clifford's Noisy Day (he says pop at the correct point in the book, too).

Casey was happy as a clam when I arrived to retrieve him this afternoon. We came home, went for a long walk, read a bunch of books, had some dinner, and then he laughed and laughed and laughed while we were playing. I think his laughter is my favorite sound. Daddy went to get Casey's newest toy and Casey desperately wanted to push his car. So we scraped around the neighborhood until the mosquitoes swarmed me.

He did not want to come inside--and I even tried to entice him indoors with ice cream. After a lovely arched back screaming flailing tantrum, we read more books, took a bath and now he's peacefully sleeping.

In another breaking development, Casey has been talking up a storm. New(er) words: flower, Casey (sounds like Sea-Sea), pool, foot, eye, chicken, mango, please (peas), sucker (sussa) , baa (like a sheep), quack--like a duck, and roar. We've been looking at the pictures in our living room and points out Daddy (of course), Casey, and his cousins. Brady = body or bardy. Caroline = jello. Yes, jello.

New word of the day: puff.
He's been saying shoes for a while, but it sounds much more like shoes these days, and he knows you need shoes to go outside. Yesterday he started saying downstairs.

This is from the day of the haircut...prior to the cut, obviously.

Things Casey can say:
mom, dad, up, down, uh-oh, dog, woof woof, outside, more, bottle, nonono, hi, night, car, diaper.

I will have to update this list as I remember more words.

Additions: all gone, quack, moo, tub, bird, done, ball

He knows where his belly button and nose are, and he tries to put his socks and shoes on by himself. He will also pick up his socks and shoes and then say outside, where he was very interested in going yesterday, when it was a thousand degrees out.
