To celebrate Casey's first Memorial Day, and because we have a pool, we had a barbecue with our families and friends Chad and Heather. Of course we also managed to get some work done around the house, making good use of both Grandpa's (and Chad) being here to lend a hand. Here is Aunt Jessica's boyfriend Rogelio showing off his childcare skills.

After another busy day of working in the yard, we had a barbecue with our friends Susie and Nicole, and Susie's parents at their beach house. Even though we live near the bay, the breeze off the ocean was much cooler and along with their hospitality, made for a lovely evening.
**Correction: Susie's brother & sister-in-law were there, too. Sorry we forgot you guys.

Casey has been doing some work outdoors for the past couple days. He's planted flowers, done some weeding, and started cleaning the pool. He'll be cutting the lawn shortly.

Casey assisted in dinner preparation this evening.

Casey was not so much fun to deal with last night. He is currently sleeping quietly in his swing. I will not take a picture (or make any noise) as I am thrilled that he is not shrieking/wailing/ howling and do not want to wake him. I'm enjoying the peace and quiet too much.

Someone isn't happy...

He's got very cute chubby cheeks now. I guess he's getting enough to eat.


Caroline thought Casey had cute "wee" feet, so I've decided to share his left foot with the world.

Casey napped quite comfortably this afternoon.

A delayed reaction to his first shot? Somebody was incredibly cranky and refused to sleep Sunday night, causing somebody else to miss work on Monday.

Carrie got to spend Mother's Day just as she wanted - doing absolutely nothing with her boys. That is if you consider nursing and dirty diapers as nothing. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there.

I was burping Casey propped on my leg after his evening snack when he picked his head up and held it for a good two minutes. Our boy is quite advanced.

Casey went to the doctor for his 1 month well baby check up today. Since his last trip, he gained a whopping 2 pounds! If he keeps this up, all of the clothes that now look too big will quickly be too small. He also got his first shot, which he took like a man.

We had busy day today. First we checked out the tent caterpillars inhabiting one of the trees in our yard. Hopefully Matt can do away with them this weekend. Casey & I don't like the caterpillars. This afternoon we went for a stroll around the neighborhood. Casey didn't take in the sights, as he slept the whole time we were out.
Then our friends Rachel & Pat came to meet Casey. He congratulated them on their recent engagement. Luckily, Rachel didn't break him, as she feared. Pat hid from the camera.

Our friend Leigh came to visit Casey today. He enjoyed looking at all the photos from her wedding last September--especially the shots of his mom sporting her bridesmaids dress early in pregnancy. Technically I guess that's the first wedding Casey attended.
Anyway, we had a lovely visit and Casey was very well behaved while Leigh held him. Leigh was also well behaved.

Since Casey is 3 weeks old today, we figured it was about time to bathe him. Despite being cranky all evening, he was a good sport about the ordeal. He didn't cry once.

We got Casey a pet rabbit that is about as old as he is. We are the best parents ever.

Aunt Cheryl & Caroline came up from NC to pay Casey a visit. Caroline was VERY excited to see baby Casey & brought him some original artwork. She was very gentle holding him (with help from Grandma, Aunt Carrie & her mom) and amazed at how little he is. For some reason I don't have a picture of Aunt Cheryl with Casey so we'll have to get one later this weekend.
