New word of the day: puff.
He's been saying shoes for a while, but it sounds much more like shoes these days, and he knows you need shoes to go outside. Yesterday he started saying downstairs.

This is from the day of the haircut...prior to the cut, obviously.

After dinner Casey & I went out to play. He rode in his car yelling "go, go, go" and beeping the horn as we strolled around the neighborhood. When we pulled into the driveway, he hopped out and went exploring...

He was very excited about this rock & brought it in the house with him.

When he decided it was time to go in, he walked through the garage, stood by the door & said inside. Then he clapped for himself.

Jacob & family came over for a visit this evening. He & Casey got along very well. Jacob showed off his dancing skills & his love of Elmo. Jacob calls the furry red guy melmo and Casey calls him something that sounds like elbow. No one was injured, there was no real screaming, and the boys both seemed happy. Overall, I would deem it a successful adventure.

Peek-a-boo

Sunday, June 22, 2008

We've had a busy weekend so far--a graduation party Friday evening and a 30th birthday party for my friend Heidi.  Casey was well behaved at both and made some new friends.
He says bubbles, ow, and peek-a-boo...among other things I can't remember at the moment.  Peek-a-boo started this morning, though.
These are not from the weekend, but I just found them on the camera.

I have been telling Carrie for a while now that Casey needed a haircut, proving my point the other night by tying his hair in a pony tail. Last night we took him for his first haircut. He was excellent. Sat with a deer in the headlights look at first, but didn't cry once. One of us is sad that his baby curls are gone, and the other is indifferent, but I'm not going to name names.

Things Casey can say:
mom, dad, up, down, uh-oh, dog, woof woof, outside, more, bottle, nonono, hi, night, car, diaper.

I will have to update this list as I remember more words.

Additions: all gone, quack, moo, tub, bird, done, ball

He knows where his belly button and nose are, and he tries to put his socks and shoes on by himself. He will also pick up his socks and shoes and then say outside, where he was very interested in going yesterday, when it was a thousand degrees out.

HOT. The Florida heat caught up with us. It was a hazy, humid, 90 degree weekend. Too hot for pictures. Saturday, we took a trip to Costco, got ready to open the pool, and then had dinner with our friend Leigh at the beach. Today, the grass got cut and the cover came off the pool. The pool needs a serious cleaning, however the pump motor died this afternoon. I bought a new motor, but was not able to replace it as the screws for the housing have rusted in place and will have to be drilled out. That will be a project for tomorrow.

Casey really enjoyed hanging out with Brady & playing with Ella. He can now say dog & woof...and he knows that a dog says woof (although it should be noted that Ella only barks when someone is at the door). He was very good in the airport & slept the whole plane ride home. And he got another tooth while we were in FL.

Scott took off of work to spend extra time with us, so we tried to make the most of the day. We went to the beach place, but since we got there too early, there wasn't much to see. We went to Hooters for an early lunch. Casey was a little flirt with the waitresses - can you blame him? After lunch, we did some shopping for Grandma, then headed back home to see Aunt Jen and Brady.

Tomorrow we return home.

Casey marked his territory in the tub with Brady. Don't worry, we changed the water.

We met our friend Andrea, and her husband Dan, for lunch. I can't post a picture because we didn't have our camera, and Andrea isn't around to e-mail the pictures that she took.
